This type of carpets are made of modal, which is a material imitating natural silk, but several times cheaper than it itself. They are made mainly on a machine and have a high thread density, namely about 1,000,000 m2. They are made mainly in Turkey and very often people confuse them and classify them as natural silk carpets. They are usually made with typical Persian motifs such as a border and a medallion in the middle, and sometimes more non-standard oriental motifs are also found.
